2002 NASCAR Grand National West Series Champion Eric Norris Looks Forward to the Chex 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Mooresville, NC – Determination, Speed and Performance are on the list of ingredients that 2002 Nascar Grand National West Series Champion Eric Norris and Green Light Racing will use when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series arrives at Texas Motor Speedway for the June 10th Chex 400K.
Norris will be behind the wheel of the 07 Pavestone Chevrolet Silverado, fielded by Bobby Dotter and Gene Christensen. The 167 lap event begins at 9:00 pm ET and will be broadcast on Speed Channel.
This is Eric Norris 7th Truck Series start at the Texas track. Last October; he posted a qualifying speed of 29.840 Seconds, putting him 13th on the starting grid.
Norris is confident in his ability to be competitive at the 1.5 mile track. “Last October, I had transmission trouble on the green flag lap. I was very disappointed. I never got to race. I want to make up for that this year,” said Norris. “Green Light Racing is a very good team; they are focused on the race.
We are hoping to be competitive. I know Texas Motor Speedway like the back of my hand. I love the high banked corners and always look forward to driving there. This will be Eric Norris 1st start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2005. Norris has started two races in the Nascar Busch Series in 2005 at Fontana and Las Vegas.
Although Norris likes to run fast on the race track, he admits he is taking his full time racing endeavor slowly. “NASCAR Craftsman Truck racing is something I love to do. I really want to be on the track every week. This series is very competitive and I have a lot of fun driving in it,” says Norris. “ In addition to Texas, we have commitments to race at Kentucky, Las Vegas and Atlanta so far this year. I am determined to be on the track a lot more in 2005 and 2006. It’s funny how you have to take the business of racing slowly. It takes time to find good people and form solid relationships. Sure, I want to race every week, win and get the trophy, but there’s a more to being a driver than just racing these days,” Norris says.
Qualifying for the Chex 400k will take place on Thursday, June 7 at 7:00pm ET.
